Mr. Potato Head

So I had this lovely idea of getting Lily Mr. Potato head for her birthday. Now and then when I'm feeling like an extra lazy mommy I will watch T.V. and we'll play Mr. Potato head so Lily's occupied too. So the other night I was having an awful time sleeping. I had this weird pain in my side. I reached down and found something in my bed. I finally realized I had a Mr. Potato head piece, the eyes in fact digging into my side. It hurt!
Oh the joys of being a mamma!

Lily is the next American Idol

So I've been singing this song by Taylor Swift, "Teardrops on my guitar" and one time when I was singing the end of the chorus "...Don't know why I do," Lily starts to sing "I do.." So now she copies me almost every time I sing it.
It is so precious because she's my little singing baby. It's so sweet. I just love her. : )

And she is the next American Idol...hehe

Dancing Baby

Sprinkler Fun

I have not written in here for a while so I thought that I should probably start again. Well just the other day we were turning on the sprinklers and Lily acted kinda like she wanted to run through it. So we thought she should. So Brian ran through with her and she loved it so much. The whole time she's yelling "Awa! Awa!" (which is her word for water). She had so much fun that she didn't even want to come in.

Tuck me in...Lily

My daughter is full of sweetness lately. Yesterday I was just lying on the floor talking on the phone. She noticed and came over to lie down next to me. I just continued talking. Then she came over with a pillow from her room and had me lift my head up and put a pillow under it. Then she came back with a blanket and put that on top of me. Then she handed me Geri, her beloved stuffed animal, giraffe which she sleeps with every night. It was like she tucked me in. She would take everything away and then put everything back. Then she would lay down with me. She's my baby and yet she's babying me.
Lily is sweet. Life is sweet.

My baby wiped my tears

I was having this horrible blue moment. I was feeling very lonely and I started crying. Lily immediately could tell that something was wrong. She starts pointing at the tears falling down my face and makes a noise as if saying, "What's wrong Mommy?" I try to stop crying but am amazed that she notices my dismay. I start crying again later and I went to get tissues to wipe my tears and blow my nose. Lily once again notices that I'm sad. She sits in my lap and asks for a tissue too. I thought she was going to wipe her nose as she has done in the past. Instead she takes the tissue, balls it up and starts wiping my tears. She does this over and over again. As if she knew that this might make me feel better. Which it did. I am in awe at how much a little baby can love and show true empathy. I have the sweetest baby in the world. I'm so blessed.

100 things you may not know about me

So I saw this on Kathryn's blog and I copied her. Aren't I cool?

100 Things you may not know about me

  1. I’m not “from” anywhere. I grew up as a military brat (Navy to be exact).
  2. I’ve moved about 12 times in my life. 10 of which before my 12th birthday. It’s hard to have roots or claim anywhere as home.
  3. I’ve lived in Alabama, 3 places in California, Virginia, Italy, and Utah.
  4. I spent 3 years in Naples, Italy. And no I can’t speak Italian.
  5. I cry during movies, I seriously do.
  6. I’ve never had anything less than a C on a report card – nothing less than an S in citizenship.
  7. I am a PK (preacher’s kid). My dad is currently a chaplain at the VA Hospital.
  8. My Dad served in Iraq. His first day there was exactly 3 years after September 11th.
  9. I’ve lived in Utah for almost 10 years and I’ve never been to a Mormon Church service or any other Mormon organization. Nothing against Mormons, lots of my friends are Mormons. I just never had a desire to go.
  10. I do have a confession about Mormons though. I’d never heard of one until I moved to Utah. No offense to anyone.
  11. My older brother is in the Navy right now and is currently stationed in Japan.
  12. I have 5 kids in my family. And I’m not Mormon or Catholic.
  13. I absolutely love peanut butter.
  14. I love to cook, Italian’s my favorite.
  15. I’m obsessed with spelling things correctly.
  16. The California school district wanted me to go to kindergarten twice because I was too young, but instead my mom home schooled me in the 1st grade because I wanted to read so badly. Technically I should’ve graduated a year after I did.
  17. Most people think I’m either a bad ass or a goody goody. I’m a mix between the two.
  18. I’ve never done any drugs – not even had a desire to.
  19. I first tasted alcohol when I was about 6 or 7 and I almost threw up. My mom gave it to me (if that doesn’t convince you not to drink I don’t know what does).
  20. I used to be one of the most judgmental people then I got pregnant (before I was “supposed” to). I’ve never known or given such grace and mercy to myself and people around me.
  21. I love to play piano, guitar, and sing in church. It’s such an honor to serve.
  22. I think the best music in church is the kind with a drum set attached.
  23. I hate to wear shoes, even when it’s freezing.
  24. I went to a private school, Salt Lake Lutheran High School, in 10th grade. Bad idea.
  25. I was in madrigals in 10th grade and I loved it.
  26. I have been singing in church since I was 11.
  27. My mom has 2 masters’ degrees, one in Church music and one in Education. She’s one of the best musicians that I know.
  28. I am planning on going back to school to get my BFA in Graphic Design.
  29. I love to make cards. They are so much fun, maybe I’ll get to do it for a living someday.
  30. My mom is one of my closest friends, and has been since I was very young. She’s the best!
  31. I got into a car accident my first day driving to school alone. Let’s just say I didn’t drive for a while after that.
  32. I hate onions. Everyone in my family teases me, but at least I married someone who feels the same.
  33. I married my first boyfriend. I started dating him when I was 15, and now we’re married. He was my first kiss also.
  34. In 9th grade Creative Writing with Mr. Enomoto, he told me I was the best writer in the class.
  35. I sang “Panis Angelicus” when I was 13 for the Christmas Eve service.
  36. I love to paint. Mr. Lee has a lot to do with that. I even took summer classes from him the year after I graduated. Watercolor is my favorite.
  37. I lived on the coast until I moved here to Utah. I still miss hearing the sound of the ocean.
  38. I have double jointed knees. Seriously, when I lock my knees, it looks gross.
  39. I am so happy to have had Lily when I did. It has shaped my life into something truly beautiful.
  40. I have an excellent musical memory. I can remember almost any song once I’ve heard it a couple times.
  41. One of my worst pitfalls is trying to please the world. It makes it very hard to love myself, because it is impossible.
  42. I love my loud and big family; they have all been my inspiration.
  43. I sometimes snort when I laugh and it just makes me laugh harder.
  44. I have been blessed with excellent teeth. I’ve never had a cavity and I only had braces for 8 months.
  45. I loved being pregnant. It was like I had a little mystery inside me.
  46. I hated having a c-section. It still feels like I failed in some way. It hurt so badly and I hope I never have to have one again. Lily was worth it though, and I’d do it again for her. I love her.
  47. I miss all my family who lives far from me. Even though I don’t know them very well, I still feel close to them, like I have a strong connection.
  48. Brian is one of the smartest people I know, even though he’s a high school dropout. He can do anything with computers. He can also fix anything.
  49. I love to hike up to a secluded spot in the mountains, with no one much around. And just listen; listen to the intense and deafening silence. That’s one of my favorite feelings.
  50. I love to swear. I don’t know why. It must be my way to be rebellious. But I’ve tried to stop because Lily’s going to pick up on it.
  51. I love to drink wine. There’s something sensual about it, the way it smells and burns the back of your throat.
  52. If I had enough money I’d only eat organic food.
  53. I taught myself guitar. I love to play it, but I still don’t feel any good at it.
  54. I have a hard time buying shoes. I don’t have big feet but they are very wide so I usually have to buy a big size.
  55. My hair sheds constantly. I’m like a freakin’ dog. Sorry to everyone who has lived with me or has found hair in their food.
  56. I love to exercise. It’s like a stress reliever. I want to start running again. I loved it when I was younger.
  57. I hope to have another baby soon. I’ll probably try to get pregnant this summer.
  58. I currently sell Avon. But I’m not very good at it. I’m trying to get enough money to buy a car.
  59. I am a certified Phlebotomist (that is I can draw blood). Needles don’t scare me at all. Although after taking the classes, I don’t like it when people do it wrong on me.
  60. I am obsessed with making lists. I get too much in my head and I have to write down an organized list so I don’t go insane.
  61. I love prayer. I used to go to an extra Monday night service just to pray. There’s nothing like getting close with the Creator.
  62. My favorite music in the world is Christian. The lyrics some people write are just amazing. I find the most meaning in that kind of music. And most people I know think I’m weird because of it.
  63. I never felt I fit in at school here in Utah. I always felt I floated around, people knew me kind of, but I was never accepted the way I am.
  64. I used to go home during lunch in high school, just so I wouldn’t have to sit alone.
  65. I love to swim. I was on the swim team my Sr. year but I quit. I still love it though.
  66. When Brian and I first met, he thought I was a snob. But truthfully I’m just shy to people I meet at first (especially if they’re attractive and male hehe).

  68. I really want to go to Hawaii someday. I love the beach.
  69. I have to wear glasses at night, especially if I’m driving. My eyes go wacky in the dark.
  70. I love avocados and mushrooms. They are the best vegetables ever.
  71. I hope to live in the Southeast someday. I just think I’d fit in there.
  72. I have super tiny fingers. My wedding ring is a size 5.
  73. I loved breast feeding. It was such a cool experience to be the sole nutritional provider for Lily. Not to mention it helped me lose 90% of my pregnancy weight.

  75. I got married when Lily was 10 months old. I appreciate everyone who showed up.
  76. I love to write poetry. I started obsessively writing it when I was in 9th grade. I quit for a little while and just recently started in up again.
  77. I’ve always wanted to write a song. Never really have though, except a little lullaby I used to sing to Lily to get her to fall asleep. I still hope I can someday.
  78. I think being punchy and laughing for no reason at all is better than any drug or drink.
  79. I can type super fast, almost 60 wpm.
  80. I love my husband with all my heart. He gets me.

  87. I love photography. I’ve seriously thought about making it a career.
  88. My favorite job I ever had was a receptionist for a law firm. I was pretty good at it.

  91. I’ve never had a speeding ticket, but I do love to speed. I guess I’m just lucky.
  92. I got my first bra when I was 8. I’ve had boobs forever. I was wearing a C cup when I was 14.
  93. Coffee is one of my favorite things. Not only does it wake me up but I love the taste. I make myself double shot lattes everyday.

Bubbles

The other day while Lily was taking a bath. She pointed at a bubble and said "Bubba (almost Bubble, heck I'm impressed)." Now everytime she sees a bubble, even if it's on "Spongebob Squarepants" or in the sink when we're washing our hands, she'll say "Bubba!" So last Sunday we got some bubbles and thought that we'd see what she'd do when she saw real bubbles. She went crazy! She chased the bubbles around like crazy laughing in excitement! It's the cutest thing ever. All the while she is also screaming "Bubba! Bubba!" There is nothing more adorable I swear!

Little People Doll House

For Christmas, Lily got a Fisher price Little People Doll House. It was one of her favorite toys she got. The other day when we were playing together I saw Lily trying to sit in the little people chair. It was so CUTE!! She would set the chair down and then position herself on top of it and sit down! How adorable is that! So I had to get her to do it again. I would say, "Hey Lily, sit in the chair." And she would do it again. Then we took the little people bed. I would say, "Lily, go night night." And she would take the bed and rest her head on it! She really does understand things. And I do have to say, I love that little baby!

We've found a house!

Here it is! Our new house is in Roy. We're so excited to get out of our tiny, sardine can of an apartment and get into something bigger. Our new house is still considered small but it's twice the size of our apartment. It's about 1200 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom. A lovely large kitchen, with a DISHWASHER! Oh my gosh you would never know how irritating it is to wash dishes by hand for 2 years! It has a good size yard (.19 acre) with a carport, which we hope to make into garage soon. Heck, it's pretty good concerning our price range. Now we have the lovely process of moving. AAH!
Well, we close Feb. 12th and move in Feb 16th if everything goes as planned! Pray that it does!
